High-level Conference on the European Court of Human Rights

On 26-27 April 2011 in Izmir (Turkey) the Turkish chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has organised a high-level Conference on the Future of the European Court of Human Rights.

In order to guarantee the effectiveness of the supervisory system set up by the European Convention on Human Rights, the summit has three fundamental aims:

- to evaluate the effects of the protocol No.14 after nearly one year of its entering into force,

- to take stock of what has been achieved with the reform process launched by the Interlaken Conference,

- to reflect on new proposals for pursuing that reform.
