Stock-Taking Conference on "Beyond Territoriality: Globalisation and Transnational Human Rights Obligations "

On 19-21 May 2011 in Antwerp (Belgium) the University of Antwerp in cooperation with the European Science Foundation and the European University Institute organizes a Stock-Taking Conference on Beyond Territoriality: Globalisation and Transnational Human Rights Obligations.

 

 

The conference seeks to address the impact of globalization on the displacement of the state and the increasing power of transnational corporations and international organisations and how these changes affect legal regimes, in particular that of human rights.

 

The meeting will focus on five topics:

1.Globalisation and Global Good Governance
2.Globalisation and the Transformation of Legal Obligations: Legal Theory and Political Philosophy Perspectives
3.Shared Responsibility in International Law
4.Experiences from practice: human rights treaty-making and litigation
5.New conceptual frameworks for transnational human Rights obligations– emerging principles and the way forward
